How to read the table
The subscription is the easy part. Four other costs decide the real number:
- Payment processing. Every platform that takes dues online passes through a card or ACH fee, typically a percentage plus a fixed amount per transaction. On $300,000 of annual dues and donations, a half-point difference in rate is $1,500 a year, more than the gap between many plans.
- Onboarding and migration. Some vendors publish setup packages in the low thousands; others fold it into the subscription or quote it. Ask for it in writing with the data-migration scope attached.
- Excluded modules. A plan that leaves out billing, school or fundraising is a membership list, not a management system. The exclusions column on each review is where the cheap plans stop being cheap.
- Household and user limits. Tiers keyed to household counts mean growth changes your price. Ask what happens at the boundary.
Annualized estimates
The 150- and 400-household columns pick the cheapest published tier whose stated limit covers that size and that does not exclude billing and payments, and multiply by twelve (or use the vendor's annual rate where one is published). They ignore processing, onboarding and add-ons, and they assume the vendor's stated limits are the only constraint. Treat them as a way to compare structures, not as a quote.
Frequently asked questions
Which synagogue software is cheapest?
The lowest published entry tiers are well under $100 a month, but those plans tend to be capped by household count or to exclude billing. For a congregation that needs dues, donations and yahrzeits in one system, the realistic floor is higher. The budget shortlist orders platforms by estimated annual cost at 100 households with the exclusions shown.
Does ShulCloud publish its prices?
Yes. Its public plans page lists three monthly tiers; see the ShulCloud review for the figures we verified, the date, and what each tier includes.
Why do some vendors show "quote only"?
They do not publish a price. That costs them points on pricing transparency under our rubric but says nothing about the product's quality. Ask for the quote in writing with household count, modules, processing rates and onboarding itemized.
